Planning: Pitch

This is our group 'pitch' video. The video contains a presentation of us demonstrating our ideas and concepts we wish to introduce to our project. Our main aim was to carry out research into the band and other similar bands within that genre of music (pop rock). With results found of this, we made a mood board with images of these bands. Also inserted into the mood board was location shot ideas; ideas where we wished to shoot our video. These ideas were then put to paper and made official. We also discussed our ideas for ancillary products and which tasks where going to be set to whom. A time-line was also added to this presentation to give us an idea of how/when we will be doing each element, e.g. filming, photo's, casting, ancillary products, and so on. This time line was estimated before the due-date so therefore if any problems occurred we had time to deal with the problems.

Research: Design Process

During the design process we created a mood board to help with our knowledge and research of the band. We developed our knowledge in their genre, The mood board had 3 sections: Instruments, Bands and Locations. These three, each had relevance to 'The Fray', in terms of research. Research was carried out into what instruments they use, what locations are used in previous videos and also similar bands in comparisons to their unique genre of music.

I also helped my partner create a basic layout of his ancillary product on Adobe Dreamweaver, for the band website. This was then later, left for him to create and finish independently.

Development: Camera, Carne Set-up

On our days of filming we decided to film ourselves setting up the equipment, to give reference to ourselves, so that we know where we can improve our performance. We watched over this footage and saw how and why it took us as long as possible and in result of this we found it to be easier to look over this, and improve our skills of setting up and in conclusion this will make our future set ups easier to co-ordinate.

We found that on our next day of filming (after looking over the previous footage) we found our set-up less stressful and more time-saving.

Ancillary Product 2: Bus Banner's

My second ancillary product was to create Bus Banners for our advertisements, advertising the band's 'World Tour'. i found a template of a bus banner and posted it into photoshop, then edited out the original advertisement and created my own. I made four different versions of these, with each one having a different band member on them.

My main problem with doing this task was getting the text to align with the shape of the bus because there is a bit of perspective on the bus. i had to teach myself from tutorials, how to use perspective in photoshop and whilst doing so i created a document to illustrate this to other users in the near future who will may have the same problem as me. (the document screenshots are attached below)

Ancillary Product 1- I'm There Poster

Here is my first, finished ancillary product. Its main purpose is to post onto walls around local areas and let the reader have the ability to tear off a piece of the poster and have all of the information they need to access further information on this.

I made the size of the document A3 so that its big enough to be noticed from a distance. The colour scheme has stayed the same throughout to give consistency to the whole project.

Development: Filming

Here is a photo of me filming Matt drumming at London. This was our last planned day of filming our band shots. I chose to film this shot because of my ideas on angles for the footage
